Quilpie, Australia

Quilpie is a friendly rural town located in the heart of the Channel Country, in south-west Queensland.  It is situated on the Bulloo River with the nearest largest town of Charleville 210km (130 mi) east.  Many natural occuring "boulder opals" are found throughout the shire, which attracts tourism through the cooler months from April through October.

When visiting, be sure to visit Baldy Top - located 8kms south from the heart of the town it provides a beautiful 360 degree view of the surrounding area. Amongst others, popular Quilpie attractions along the main street include the Opal Hunter Shop, Quilpie Tourist Information Centre, Quilpie Skate Park, Quilpie Town Hall and a free opal fossicing area west of the town towards Eromanga and Windora.
